My dad got his F-20 in 1950 when I was just 9 years old. I do remember that the magneto lever was up when the tractor was running. A few years later the tractor went to the International dealer in town for some needed repair and when the tractor returned home the lever needed to be put in the lower position to run. As I have read the manual book for the F-20 it does indicate that the lever should be in the lower position to run.
