Farmall M engine swap

I have a 1940 M and I would like to replace the existing engine with a Farmall 400 or 450 engine. What is the difference between a 400 and a 450 engine? I am pretty new to farmalls but from what I've gathered the M, SM, 400 and 450 engines are all the same....? Is this correct? If I were to make the swap with a 400 or 450, will the engine bolt right up into the M's frame? Thank you for any help. Have a great weekend.
