What are the chances that the oil cooler is the site of antifreeze getting into oil. The current owner called me last night to tell me the farmer that used it last summer drained a 1/2 qt. antifreeze out of crankcase when he drained oil. The borrower put radiator sealer in and did not get antifreeze in oil after that. He worked it but do not know how long or hard. Other possibilities are o-rings on sleeves starting to go and possibly brass sleeve around injectors corroded according to IH mechanic. This mechanic seems to feel that cooler or injector sleeves most likely the site of leak and not the o-rings on piston sleeves. What do you all think. Mechanic says 300.00 to 400.00 for new oil cooler if the problem and didn't ask about $ if injector(s) bad. If o-rings are bad, he said 900.00 to 1200.00 just for parts. Is there any way to isolate where the problem is with visual inspection. Haven't bought it yet as this revelation spooked me yesterday. I'm pretty good mechanic and could do any or all repairs.
