The line (unless replaced by others) is steel. The flaring described below is important for two reasons.

The first is that in a gravity feed system the fuel lines protect the tractor from fuel leak related fires and injury. The double flare is Brake Line rated technology and needs a special tool. it is mandatory to use this as it is more vibration resistant than compression fittings.

The second is that rubber hoses and hose clamps look unsightly and are not nearly as safe as steel.

If replacing some of the line, make it 10" longer and coil it to the correct length (with a tubing bender) to make installation and removal easier.
