Thanks Roger and Hendrik. I checked the sleeves and they are flush with the head. I found a few of the head studs were loose and not fully seated in the head so I fixed that. The head gasket did not have any sealer applied to it and came off easy, as it should have as it was only installed last year! This engine seems to have not run hardly at all since a motor job, as there is no ridge on the cylinders at all. I suspect that the engine was done shortly before it was sold to the guy I got it from, he didn't do anything to the tractor, it sat around for a couple of years. I have to go away for a week but when I get back I will fill the water jacket with water and look for leaks around the sleeves. If I don't see any then I think I will try the pressure trick. Of course I will have to reassemble the head and torque it down to do that! Thanks again for the help.
