Hayfarmer, a six volt coil can be used with the electronic ignition. The black wire runs from the back side of the resister and red wire runs from front side of resister if memory serves me right. However going with the 12 volt coil will probably give better results. The electronic conversions sure do work a lot better than the points in my opinion. Jerry
