If you have gone so far as to tear down the engine then you
should go ahead and install a whole new piston and sleeve set,
and put them in the correct way, with the numbers facing the
front. The sleeves and pistons come matched so be sure to not
get them mixed up. Sme of the old timers will have to tell you
what could have caused the rod to get bent.
