Your timing gear single punch mark is aligned with the single punch mark on the crankshaft gear. The double punch marks on the timing gear are aligned with the double punch marks on the governor gear. When you install the mag on the engine you need No1 piston at TDC on the compression stroke. You need to remove No1 sparkplug and hold your thumb over the plug hole while someone cranks the engine slowly until you feel compression against your thumb. Then look for your timing mark on the flywheel. Slowly keep rotating the engine until your timing mark is aligned with the indicator. Turn the rotor to No1 position in the mag and install on your engine. Hal PS: Make sure you feel that compression against your thumb, very important so you're on the compression stroke.
