H radiator cap

I've got a '40 H.....it appears to have the original radiator, but i'm NOT positive...lot of things can happen in 66 yrs....I was looking for a radiator cap and got one off another H, about a 45 or 46...but the pressure seal is too large and will not go into the neck on mine...what gives? If I order a replacement, aftermarket one w/ the wing, like from OEM, is there a different type I have to specify? I've cked a few caps on other tractors and they all appear to be just a little too big.
