you are talking about two different things here.

ohms law and power(watts)

watts is = to volts x amps

(ie) 6 volts x 20 amps =120 watts
12 volts x 20 amps =240 watts

what you need to determine is how many watts the lights are, then divide by 12 and that will equall the amps needed to run the lights.

the size of wire you need will determine the amps that can flow through the wire. I think a 14 gauge wire can handle 20 amps of current.
