I hope you find working on the old tractors as much fun as the rest of us on this forum. Concerning the difference between a F12 and F14, there's not much difference. I own a F14. The were only made in 1938 and 1939. I believe the goveners are different allowing the F14 to have higher RPM's and thus a couple few more horsepower. The steering wheel is raised up at the driver end vs a flat line of steering on a F12. I think there are a couple of other things but I can't think of them at the moment. One could buy an upgrade kit and turn a F12 into a F14. Good luck with the project.
