I might be wrong, but I believe that the W-9's motor has dry sleeves, so there is no way cavitation erosion could chew through the cylinder liner, as it doesn't contact the water. To me, it sounds like a blown head gasket, allowing cylinder pressure to be pushed into the cooling system, or possibly a cracked head. Does it have white exhaust smoke with a sweet smell to it? If it does, then it is burning antifreeze. I might be wrong about the sleeves, so let someone who has worked on a W-9 have the final say.
