(1)Mine has shutters,but as Cowman said alot had a roll up curatin (2)If you have 2 fillers necks on the tank,or one small starting tank on the hood,then you have a kerosene version,if only one main tank them its gas.I have never ran my 14 on kerosene and use the small tank simpling to make it easier to fill the carb for starting. (3)Thats why you see alot of old timers without fingers! My great grandpappy had just what you said hooked to his,he had a special piece of wood he used to hold the clutch pedal down with,but one day it slipped and he walked off missing half of his arm.I may be wrong but seems like there were ways to disconnect the power from the saws and such near the blade.Grandpappys was homebuilt.
