Thanx for your reply. Yes the tractor is running,and the lifters,and valves appear to work, but the rocker arms on two valves have no clearance, and are tight except for when the adjusters are backed all the way out then the rocker arms loosen and I can get clearance. Cracked head ? Would that explain why there is air coming out of a spot on the valve cover where a small part of the gasket is missing ? Why no oil in valve cover? there is a fair amount of sludge build up. I do have a manual and we are planning on tearing it down for a rebuild and your input would be greatly appreiciated thanx Jim hope to hear from you. Doggone
