Hurst: Once you have the top cover off, you can see most of the gears. In mine the teeth were nice and square, no pitting or corners off. Even before you take the cover off, you can feel the resistance of the detent balls when you remove it from each gear. Tie the clutch pedal down so you don't get resistance from gear mesh. By the amount of resistance you will quickly see the difference in the various gears. In your case you know 4th is bad, thus compare that with 1st, 2nd, 3rd and reverse. In my case 1st was the bad one, my 130 would pop out of 1st under heavy load. I have heard of these getting bad enough, if your on a steep incline, the weight of the shift lever will take it out of gear as you depress the clutch.
