Allan, Yep, that's the one, alright. It was the first time we'd ever baled hay. We put 1000 bales in one bay of the haymow, whereas we'd put that much loose hay in the barn spread over three bays. You guessed it...we broke down the stringers that held up the mow. Dad went out and cut some 6" dia. walnut trees (with a crosscut saw), trimmed them up, used a screwjack to raise the floor, and fixed the problem. Those logs held that floor up until the barn was torn down in about 2001. Thanks for the reply. Stan
