An hour a month? I'll trade yards, takes me 2 hours every 5 days. You won't get much for $500. But, for your limited use I would buy a new Walmart, etc $1000-$1500 throw away type, or the cheapest you can find. JD, Cub Cadet, etc can be found used for less than $1000, and will eventually need repairs. I paid $5300 for a new JD hydro zero turn in 1996, it gets a workout.
