A simple ohm meter can easily tell you if the coil is definitely BAD, but even if it passes theses tests, its absolutely no guarantee its GOOD, cuz its not any high voltage breakdown test and she's not warmed up. If you get her to spark like Hal described, its basically good UNLESS she fails once shes warmed up that is!!!!! There should be around 1.5 to 2 ohms primary DC resistance as measured between its lil + and - terminals. If its OPEN (or very high resistance) its definitely BAD. There should be somewhere of several thousand ohms from the high voltage secondary output (the big center top HV coil terminal) to the other lil terminals. If its open (or very low resistance) its BAD. Theres should be an OPEN circuit from any of the 3 terminals to the case, or one of the windings is shorted out. I dont know beans about the governor, been wayyyyy tooo long. John T
