When you remove No1 sparkplug, hold your thumb over the hole until you feel compression, then drop that screwdriver with a big handle into the cylinder. You will need someone to crank until you feel compression. Once you reach TDC on the compression stroke your timing mark should be
there. May be covered by rust and oil/dirt.
