I don't know if you re-read these older posts or not but I don't get on here during the week . I am going to be 49 next month . I decided at an early age ( as a teen ) that I didn't want children . I was a very irresponsible young adult that went down the wrong path . I didn't settle down till I was in my early thirty's . I had a gal I dated for close to two years when I was 26 . She had two kids from a previous marriage ( 8 and 5 ) . One day after about the 18th month with them I ventured into a small punishment for the older one ( sent him to his room ) . I was sitting them till mom got home . When asked why he was in his room I told her what he had done and she blew her top ! I was the bad guy ! I didn't know how to be a parent because I didn't have kids ! It was down hill from there . I asked her if she knew how to be parent before her first one arrived . BBBBuuuttt , BBuuuttt ?!?! OK - So I left her . And never had kids . I still think I made the right choice . I've been married now for almost 20 years to a woman I met on one of my foray's to work in a different state ( CO ) . And I'm still not financially stable enough to AFFORD children . But I can AFFORD a bunch of other things I DON'T need . Don't get torqued right now , I'm not insinuating anything . I can't say from experience if they are as life changing as everyone say's they are . A guy I work with just had his first baby two weeks ago . He's 38 . He makes an estimated combined income of less than 50K . Is that enough to start a family ? I don't know but he's ready to find out ! My mom died at an early age and my dad had to raise 4 kids on one income . There was no daycare in my life but I do remember going for a short period of time to a pre-school . I'm the third , each of us came around four years apart . So all that can be said is ( and this might be a little personal ) if your wife is taking a contriceptive then maybe she should stop and see IF she get's pregnent . If she does then it was meant to be > if not , then ?? I'm hoping this makes a little bit of sense and I hope you don't take any offense as none is intended . By the way , even though I think I made the right choice I regret the decision . Who knows what path I'd be on if the choice had been different . Like everyone agrees on - you never get any younger . Take care ...Randy
