CNKS: Good advice, I might add, don't fill it above the top petcock. When these old 4 cylinder Farmall gassers are over full, they pop crank seals. I loaned my SA to a neighbor once, told him how to use the petcocks. Problem was he only opened petcock 1/4 turn and nothing came out, thus he added 4 qts to be safe. He brought the tractor home, told my wife, SA was hard on oil. That night I drained off 3 qts and my front crank seal was leaking. He didn't come to help change the seal, just told me what a H@## of a poor setup it was. A few days later I saw him with the rear brake drums off his car. Just for fun I thought I'd ask if he knew what he was doing. Very sharply he responded, "I suppose you think I'm stupid." I advised him I didn't say that, didn't tell him what I was thinking. Folks just have to understand why IH did it that way, and you covered it well.
