Restoration quality is a buzz word(s). It is likely alkyd enamel -- will not last as long as the better paints. Try to find out exactly what it is. If it is an "acrylic modified" alkyd enamel, or if they simply call it a modified alkyd enamel, it may be as good as Case-IH 2150 (a Valspar product). It might be acrylic enamel, so much the better, but I doubt it. Valspar makes all qualities of paints -- not saying as good as PPG or DuPont (I do not know), but for tractors their better paint is probably close enough. I am curious as to what it is also. You can try www.valspar.com, but the tech sheet part of their website is non-functional. The "correct" color is a matter of opinion. To check the color you need to compare it with Case-IH 2150, which is also not correct for all years, but is as close as you are going to find. You can usually tell by the price, $20/gallon is junk, $40 you can think about, $60 or above you can be fairly confident of. I thing PPG/Dupont starts at about $80, although their acrylic modified paints may be cheaper, haven't bought any of those. The PPG acrylic urethane with hardener that I use, by comparison is $130 -- pretty bulletproof.

Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
