Sally: Wayne is probably correct if every thing is working ok. The mice love that spot in the torque tube between engine and transmission. Last year I left an old sofa cushion on my tractor seat. I think the mouse lugged 10% of that into the torque tube for his nest. Two places to look are the inspection hole by the clutch and also back where torque tube joins the transmission.

I find the best way to keep them out of there is spray some WD-40 in there ocasionally, or make covers for both holes.
