My M has a cable operated 9-speed and I've been told that it's a M&W . I've also been told that the Heisler (?) brand is a lever shifted model . I can't verify either suggestion . If you have a push-pull cable that goes into the clutch housing just under the belt pulley on the right side that's the 9-speed shifter . Mine works pretty good . Since I can't shift my tractor when it's moving it's a moot point as to what gear I start in . A M will travel at 16 to 17 mph in 5th and I think the 9-speed will give about 8 to 10 in 4th-hi but I've never clocked it . In contrast my 1755 Oly will only do 18 to 19 mph with the over-under in overdrive and maxed out on the rpm's so that old M scoot's on down the road OK ! Have fun !
