With out checking the compression and glow plugs as a start to see just what is going on this is a tough one . You could have cracked precombustion chambers bad injectors blowen head gskt. burnt valves broken rings or bad injection pump. there are other things that it could be .And yes the old glow plug engines were a bit hard starting even when warm out . As fo a chore tractor for winter use ya can beat and old gasser . yea they use gas but it is like this they are alot less to fix . To realy fix your 460 it is not going to be cheep as you have know idea what you are getting into and once your into it you have littel choise . as far as swappen the diesel out and going to a gasser there again it is not going to cheep even if you find a combine engine there are pices and parts that you will have to buy to make the swap. So if your like most people today and ya don't have a money tree growen ya might be ahead of the game to get another tractor that is in better shape and work on the 460 as you can and do it wright a littel at a time as money come avaible that way your not down and out and tryen to rush the job.
