Same here,my 12V Neg Pertronix that I got last year works excellent.Smooth idle,fast start,no smoke or smells,and instant governor response.The Autolite plugs seem to help out too.I was not pleased with the overall performance of the Champions that I installed Dec 04 (and the ones the previous owner had just put in prior).I think the Champion brand plugs would work better if they offered fine wire platinum models,or at least like their "EZ Start" small engine plugs.However,no one offers an upgrade for these old "fat" plugs.
