super a pto ?

1948 super A, the rear cover for the belt pully. Mine does not have the pully, just the blank cover. I see there is an oil passage in the casting. Is it supposed to be blocked off with the gasket? just wondered couse this one was. Looks like a homemade gasket.

With the tranny cover off, looking towards the pto it doesn't look like there has been any oil getting to the bottom.Or the pto gear.

does the oil passage seep threw the top bearing down to the bottom pto shaft?

Also around the top bearing retainer there was a peice of rubber o ring. at least it looked like rubber but brittle. is there a o ring in between the 2 metal plates?
