Here are the results from my 40 H Distillate the day after I got her home. cold compression test #1 80 spark plug gap 38 clogged black oiley #2 70 spark plug gap 34 clogged black oiley #3 65 spark plug gap 25 black sooty and dry #4 80 spark plug gap 35 clogged black oiley I am not sure what fixed it but here is what I have done. New plugs, wires, points, cap and rotor, rebuilt carb and governer, exhaust. Adjusted the valves, and ONE of the most overlooked items, cleaned out the crankcase breather. I put about 10 hard working hours on her then checked it the second time. They are all in the 75 to 80 range now. and she runs and works hard. Good luck Ken B
