Your carburetor float may be the problem if it isn't shutting off the gas and causing a flooding condition. To check for fire pull the coil wire from the cap and hold within 1/8" of a good ground while someone cranks the engine with the ignition switch on. Should have a good hot blue spark. If you have good fire here reconnect coil wire and pull off a plug wire and try the same thing here. No fire here could be points, condenser, rotor or cap. When you have that black smoke is an indication of over fueling, but could be weak fire too. Coil may be weak. Hal
