Technically you have too many variables to give you a precise answer. Number of bottoms is one factor but you must also factor in width of cut of each bottom. Then you must take into account tire size. If you can locate one, there are charts giving the ideal setting for every variation of number on bottoms, width of cut of each and tire size. This chart will apply whether plow is mounted, semi-mounted or trailing. You can also vary on that setting by probably 10%, and still do good plowing. However if the setting is perfect you will pull the plow much easier. I had one of these charts years ago. I would expect they are still available from county ag reps or ag engineering depts. I wouldn't disturb anyone in sales these days, the guys that knew are either retired or dead. Allan's basically got it right.
