The thing is that it isn"t worn evenly to the 3.445 diameter. If you check with a bore gauge, it will probably show that it is worn egg shaped and different from the top to the bottom. Doing it right is best, but if you want to do it on the cheap, just putting a S&P kit in can"t be that expensive. Are they maybe $6-700? I don"t think that will make that much of a difference in the house fund, will it? If you"ve taken it apart yourself, you can put the kit in yourself. Paul
