It is more likely to happen with thinner oil in warm weather if it is coming from the air cleaner itself. The air cleaner attaches to a tube coming from the head, sort of like a PCV valve. That draws fumes and perhaps a little oil back into the air cleaner. But, it sounds like your W6 is badly out of tune. That can cause weird things sometimes.
