Welcome to the club. I just went down that road myself with a 1971 544. First off, there are three styles of exhuast manifolds for the 544 gasser alone. From what the CNH guys tell me, the one that is the most prone to cracking is the style where the exhaust pipe exits vertically at the very front of the manifold. They can be repaired, as I had done with mine, so I could have a good spare if the need did so arise. I took mine to a welding shop. I am not sure what it is they use to repair a cast piece, but they did do a decent job. It only set me back $42. It isn't the cleanest weld alive, but I'm not sure what options welder's have at their disposal when it comes to cast. I bet someone on the board here will know exactly what they use. Good luck! Billy
