I ran Jimmy's idea, of 5 extra pounds of alfalfa to the mix, by my ag man today and he said that Jimmy's idea was cheap insurance. So, I'm going with 20#s of alfalfa per acre. They're the ones that told me to wait a month after the roundup application before I plowed the old alfalfa patch. I'll let you know how this all turns out. The land in rent free this year because of all the inputs. Next year I have to do all the work and pay an additional $1.00 per bale. I wanted the rye so I'd have something for hay this year. Should get a good cutting.
