Rob there should be a pin or rivet that can be removed, allowing the spring loaded cap to be pulled up to reveal the gear lever pivot pin. Tap this pin out and the lever should come away from the box. Alternatively you could try removing the pelt pulley and reach in and free up the selectors.
I'd be inclined to remove the lever though so you can inspect the end that stirs the selectors. Regards, Redfan.
