North east Ohio and yes we still plow and we still use old tractors gas tractors to boot , Eugene has the 1066 and a 706 gasser that was his maine tractor for 11 years before he got the 1066 that was a total rag and i rebuilt it for him from the ft. thru to the PTO my buddy did the paint work on it and when we had that one up and running we did a total rebuild on the 706 and it is still used everyday . Now then there is Billy two S/MTA's one that was bought new in 54 by him and the newer one that he got 10-12 years ago and the WD 45 that was also bought new on the farm and is one of the nicest org. WD 45's that you will find anywhere in the country and his late model 8 N ford also bought new on the farm with all attchments and they are all still there now that one does not look so good to many years loading manuar . We plowed 15-16 acres yesterday with the two S/MTA's with two sets of 4340 oliver trailer plowes . Today my old ratty 806 D got a work out disken and the oats got planted with and OLD Mccormick drill that was bought new in 46 and if it had a paint job it would look new works like new . Ya don't have to spend a million bucks to farm with the new junk what we farm with will do just as good as the new stuff and for somereason we have as good and sometime better yeild then the ones with all the high tech notill or chiesel plows field culivators and what have ya . Yea we could have brought the 1066 out and put the 5 bottoms on it and got done faster on the fields but ya know what it was relaxen to slow down and relax and the vary best part of this farmen with this old stuff is tha t guess what it is paid for and as long as i am able to keep repairen the junk it will keep going . One of these days i will finish my 1486 and when it is done there is a real good chance that that one will go down the road as i realy don't like it.
