Yes you can drop 5000 in it in a heart beat plus labor along with other repais you could have even way more then that plus 800-900 bucks for tires and tubes . As for myself i would rather have a gear drive even if i have to replace the T/A , and yes some people are payen these high prices. A hydro is fine for some work but if you are thinking about doing tillage work with it it is not the tractor for that job . And just because it works ok cold things change when up at operating temps.
