Well first off you are not allowen it to warm up enough, the best way to tell when it is warm enough to make the switch to diesel is when it will not run any faster when on the gas side they will run faster as they warm that is when to make the switch and always start with a full tank of gas . As far as a backfire goes on the diesel side i realy hate to tell ya this but you are about ready for a pump rebuild as the cam bushing in the pump are getting wore out and the cam is bouncing and this is not a DIY job . And one thing always allow cool down time before you shut her down and i know somebody will disagree with this but this is the best and only way to shut them down is let cool and shut down on the diesel side and not going back on gas as going back on the gas side only heats it back up and ya don't want that and you can take this to the bank it leads to cracked heads alon with stalling them in the field and not getting them started wright away to get the water flowen again .
