I have had that problem on 2 tractors I've been working on. After getting them to run they slowly got to where I can now shift them like they should. Don't know if you could do this but heres and idea for you. Jack it up, start the engine and let it run and spin the wheels for a while. The tranny may get the where you can shift it after doing that. If its locked up from sitting that is and not locked in 2 gears.
