I just had the starter rebuilt on my super m. It would just barely turn the motor and you had better catch it on the first turn or you were done. The rebuilder showed me the back plate. The babbit bushing had worn out and the rotor shaft had worn a slot in the housing down about a quarter of an inch. THe top brushes were not even touching anymore.. Put the new rebuilt starter in and I thought air flow from the radiator fan alone was going to pull the tractor out of the shop.. Man whata differance... I'd say get the starter rebuilt. Good luck Tallperson
