Thanks for the info RustyFarmall. I guess what confused me is my parts manual has 2 top assemblies listed - 45108 DD for kerosene and 50981 DC for gas, which is what I have. Then I look at bottom bowls and see I have a 6212 DB for kerosene, but the book also lists 56608 D for gas. So I thought I had a mismatch and needed to select certain parts from both carb kits to make it work. I currently have the gas kit installed and she"s still not running right, so probably "operator error" during installation (me), or not cleaned out good. Or something maybe haywire with the governor. Think I can rule out electrical problems because I just did a 12-volt conversion from Bob Melville"s diagrams, substituting the little Hitachi alternator which fits nice under the H"s hood. Also just installed electronic ignition, a new coil, new plugs and wires. This great YT site had all the info I needed to tackle all this, even for a first-timer. I buy all my parts here, although that thread from 4/20 by Randy_NE tells me I should have gone to Case IH for my carb kit! I had a problem with some parts from Tisco"s carb kit not fitting, or not being included at all.
