1. Fuel flow TO the carburetor is not the same as fuel flow THROUGH the carburetor. If it can't get through, it can't get to the engine, and the engine will not run. 2. Magneto OR distributor? Not both. Not mag/distributor. 1950 was around the time they started putting distributors, aka battery ignitions, on the tractors, so it probably has a distributor, NOT a magneto. Since the engine does run, I would NOT start looking at things like the starter, gas cap, or radiator. I would NOT change the oil, check the muffler bearings, tighten the lug bolts, or stir the transmission fluid. The ignition system may not be perfect, but it is good enough to make the tractor run, so LEAVE IT ALONE for now. What I would check is the carburetor. It is probably dirty as all get-out, and needs to be taken apart and cleaned.
