With a fully charged battery on the tractor but not connected to the Neg cable (best to charge it in this case with the Neg battery cable not connected), and all lights and ign off.

Using a volt meter, check between the Neg post on the bat and the Neg cables clamp. (hook the Neg black lead to the post, and red to the clamp)
If there is a reading more than .5 volts, there is a battery drain. This means the electrical system is leaking energy to system ground.

If no volts (good) connect the battery Neg cable and start the tractor. If it charges good, check the voltage across the battery. Black on Neg red on pos. It should be 7 to 7.2 volts. If so it is good. If not that high, thr regulator needs to be adjusted (old automechanics books, and repair manuals needed here).

If it does not charge, and tapping the regulator makes it do so, ai wouls replace the regulator.

To repair current leaks(as in the second paragraph), remove one wire at a time ,from the electrical connections in the box, and then on the regulator, to see if it stops the voltage flow. If that wire does not change the drain, re-attach it.

I hope this gives a starting point for your analysis.
