IHC 234 PTO Problem

I am borrowing an IHC 234 from a friend. I was rototilling and all of a sudden the pto rotates, but grinds while under a load. Is this a "common" problem? Where should I look first. I work on heavy equipment for a living, but have never worked on something this small. Is this something best left for somebody who has experience with these machines or is this something I will most likely be able to find parts for and be able to tackle in a weekend? Thanks
