Hehe...see that big black thing on the rear side of the engine? That is an intercooler from an 86 Thunderbird. I am planning on running as much boost as it will possibly handle. I plan on running race fuel and injecting water in the near future. At first I will start pulling with the factory wastegate setting of 7-8psi. The compressor will comfortably run 30psi up to 3000 RPM on this engine. If I can make it hold together at that level, I will do it. That will put the engine around 275HP and 500lb/ft of torque. However, I have to get frame connectors and a scatter blanket before I start thinking about trying that RPM level. I dont want the flywheel to saw me or someone else in half if it decided to come loose or explode. It is most likely that I will hold RPM to around 2500 and just concentrate on getting boost up to the high 20's or 30psi as the ultimate goal. Someone mentioned RPM level, and I have that under control. I have a Mallory 3RLI ignition box going on the tractor, and it has a two stage rev limit setup. I am hoping to use the first to build boost before dropping the clutch and switch to a higher limit while pulling. I have to rig up a switch mechanism on the clutch or throttle to make that work. It will be later on after the bugs are worked out, of course.

In such cases, rework makes what could have been a fun project turn into an irritant or even a nightmare. Minor Irritants To give you an example of an minor but irritating proble
