If it is stuck in two gears (probably 1st and 3rd there can be a lot of pressure on them and that pressure makes it very difficult to get out of either gear. My suggestion is to find a long strong bar or something and have someone rock the tractor back and forth while you put pressure on the shift rail on the right side (3rd & 4th). The rocking hopefully will take enough pressure off so that you can get it out of one of the gears. The other will come a lot easier. Then before you put the shifter back in have it built up so that it fits the rails tight. That way the chances of this happening again will be greatly diminished. Also stopping in neutral and making sure that you make a nice square shifting pattern will help, but that old habit of “rounding the corner” is hard to break
