Assuming that you can move the lever into the 4/5 neutral part of the pattern but it won't move forward into 4, or back into 5, the shift rail in the trans may be rusted tight, or bent, Remove top to fix. Assuming it goes into the gear locations (where there is supposed to be 4 or 5 but remains in neutral, it is pull the top time. Rail, or shift fork. Assuming it won't go into the 4/5 area of the pattern at all. I would pull the shifter lever out of the trans cover, and look to see if the 4/5 shift rail is at all centered in the neutral position. If it is not, move it with a big screwdriver so that it is aligned. If this does not fix it may be necessary to pull the top. good luck, JimN
