It sounds to me like your plow shares aren't digging in. They may be worn or maybe not the right type for that plow. I don't know much about JD plows, but on the older trailer plows that IH made, the plow depended on the share to pull it into the ground. There are a lot of adjustments that can be made to the older plows too to make them work right. Without actually seeing it, it's hard to say what the problem may be. If you know an older, retired farmer in your area, he may be able to look at it and tell you exactly what you need. That's what I did. Plowing is as much an art as it is a science and the fellow I asked taught me a lot about it.
