The tach is sealed up pretty tight. Getting it open (and closed) might be possible but not just to get the engine hours correct. Just put the number down on the records and call it good. (I would also recommend not leaving it in the rain as they eventually loose their seal and degrade. You could seal arond the glass with lexcel clear sealant with a small tip and help save it.
