Type of oil for belly pump

I have a 53 Super M with a M&W live pump and a 46 H with a standard belly pump. The manuals say to use regular 30wt oil (depending on temperature) but I hear of others using hydraulic fluid also. In all of your experiences, which is best? From time to time I have a loader mounted on the Super M but usually just use the lifts with single acting cylinders on implements.
